Lori Loughlin is known for her roles on the hit TV shows Full House and the new 90210. But Lori’s number one job is being a mom and Loughlin says her children were the reason she began a new gig.
Lori recently signed on as national spokesperson for Voices of Meningitis. As the mom of preteen and teen children, she’s spreading the word about protecting kids against meningitis.
This hard working mama took time out of her schedule to take a GLOSS Pop Quiz:
GLOSS: What’s the gadget you can’t live without?
Lori Loughlin: My Blackberry! I can’t live without my Blackberry because I use it for business on a regular basis.
GLOSS: What is your favorite movie?
Lori Loughlin: I love Tootsie!
GLOSS: Favorite guilty pleasure?
Lori Loughlin: Easy — McDonald’s French Fries!
GLOSS: What is Voices of Meningitis?
Lori Loughlin: Voices of Meningitis is a new national public awareness initiative of the National Association of School Nurses. The campaign brings together the many “voices of meningitis” – school nurses, parents and survivors of the disease – who share their personal experiences to help educate families of preteens and teens about the dangers of meningococcal meningitis and the importance of vaccination. As a mother of three preteen and teenage children, my family’s health is my number one priority. I wanted to help protect my children against meningitis so I had them vaccinated.
GLOSS: Tell us the most important things parents should know about this disease.
Lori Loughlin: Meningitis is a form of meningococcal disease. It is serious and can take the life of a child in just a single day. Health officials recommend meningitis vaccination for preteens and teens 11 through 18 years of age and college freshmen living in dormitories.
GLOSS: What is your goal as spokesperson for Voices of Meningitis?
Lori Loughlin: I joined the Voices of Meningitis campaign, along with school nurses and families personally affected by meningitis, to help educate families about the dangers of this disease and the importance of vaccination for preteens and teens. I want to help educate parents that vaccination is a safe and effective way to help protect against meningitis.
