Country singer Wynonna Judd says that Taylor Swift is nowhere near ready for so much success and that she is getting too much, too soon.
Wynonna, who was part of the mother-daughter duo the Judds, told USA Today:
You want my honest comment? It’s too much too soon.
Mom [Naomi Judd] and I rode in a car for the first year of our career to visit radio stations. There was a making of the star, there was a rising up, and the fans went with us.
And I used to walk to school 10 miles uphill! Someone sounds a bit jealous! Taylor Swift seems like a young woman with her head on straight—what do you think of Judd’s remarks?

I think Wynonna simply said what a lot of us may have been thinking. Honestly, I am a huge fan of both Taylor Swift and Wynonna. I grew up listening to Wynonna and my children are growing up listening to Taylor Swift. From a pure vocal talent stand point, Taylor’s voice is not a Martina McBride or a Carrie Underwood OR a Wynonna, but from a songwriting, marketing and creative stand point – Taylor knows her fans and isn’t afraid to take a chance. I’m happy for everyone’s success and wish both gals much more success.
Wynonna is right.
Things are totally different now than when crynonna was starting out.More money and more perks are available now.
Wynonna is AMAZING…Taylor is cute but not at that level yet!
whinenona is lame.. and sounds like an old lady when she talks about, “And I used to walk to school 10 miles uphill!” All she needs to add is that she walked barefoot through snow in the good ole’ days! blah blah blah… QUIT WHINING!
Taylor Swift is an amazing artist and person. I’ve been a fan since the very beginning of her career and I never would’ve thought that she would become this successful. She also did radio tours and created a fan base all on her own. People like Whinenonna are complaining that she’s “winning too many awards”. How do you win too many awards? That’s like a doctor coming home from work saying “damn I make too much money. Taylor worked her butt off and definitely deserved every single award and every penny she’s earned.
Wy,
As much as I love you and your music, I think it’s a shame that you felt it necessary to say Taylor Swift hasn’t earned her dues. This young lady has been writing since she was 14. How many children do you know that can actually write music. You know yourself it isn’t so easy. Give the girl her credit and stop sounding like Faith Hill when Carrie Underwood won the award that she felt she should have won. It’s really pathetic. By the way, you weren’t so old when you started winning your awards and I loved you from the very first song I heard. By the way I am 48 and not a teeny bopper as I’m sure you would assume.
Wynonna is simply stating a truth. All the controversy right now about Taylor Swift not being able to sing and all is just proof her record label and handlers have not been helping her grow.
