At the Grammy Awards tonight, Stephen Colbert was cool enough to get his own iPad! Colbert had a good opening monologue, joking that the music biz was saved by a”48-year-old Scottish cat lady with sensible shoes,” Susan Boyle. Stephen taunted Jay-Z with his shiny new iPad, pulling out the device instead of an envelope to present the award for “Song of the Year.”
Colbert turned to Jay-Z and said “did you not get one of these in your gift bag?” and asked his own daughter, also in attendance, if she finally thought he was cool. She didn’t.

Mel Gibson is back and he’s better than ever in the new action flick, Edge of Darkness. Mel is on the edge as a Boston police detective trying to find people who killed his daughter. After nearly eight years (Signs was his most recent starring role), Gibson is back on the big screen in a starring role and if you like action movies, you’ll love Edge of Darkness.
If you like your movies with lots of sunshine, unicorns and rainbows, you might want to skip this movie. But if you’re a fan of a good action flick, Edge of Darkness will rock your socks off!
The story is based on a 1985 British TV miniseries and in addition to Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone stars as an assassin with a heart of gold. Winstone’s character is fabulous and he is a great addition to the plot. Danny Huston plays a villan you’ll love to hate, as the head of a very bad giant corporation.
Gibson’s homicide detective Tommy Craven has a grown daughter, Emma (Bojana Novakovic), who works as a researcher at a nuclear energy company, Northmoor. Emma comes home for a visit and is shot on Tommy’s front porch. Because he’s a cop, everyone assumes the hit was meant for Tommy. But when a grieving Tommy finds a pistol among Emma’s possessions, he starts to investigate. After Emma’s death, the body count begins and you’ll spend the rest of the movie on the edge of your seat.
Action flicks are always better with a good catchphrase! For example, Clint Eastwood’s famous “Go ahead, make my day” line in his role as Detective Harry Callahan in the 1983 film Sudden Impact. Audiences cheered Bruce Willis in Die Hard when he said “Yippee ki-ay, **********!”. Mel Gibson has a great tough guy catchphrase in this movie:
You had better decide whether you’re hangin’ on the cross… or bangin’ in the nails
I loved this movie! You can read more about the movie on the Edge of Darkness website or get a preview by watching the clip below.
Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer gave the strongest hint yet that she may return to the best-selling series! Meyer hinted to Entertainment Weekly that the vampire romance series isn’t dead and buried, and that there may be more in the pipeline.
Stephenie Meyer abandoned the series after a rough draft of Midnight Sun, a companion novel to the Twilight Saga was leaked online. Midnight Sun was a retelling of the Twilight novel but from the perspective of Edward Cullen rather than Bella Swan. After the leak Meyer chose to focus on non-Twilight related work but it appears Meyer hasn’t turned her back on the series after all. Stephenie told Entertainment Weekly:
I’m not working on anything new Twilight-related now, and probably not for a while. But there’s still a possibility that I’ll go back and close some of the open doors.
There is new graphic novel adaptation of Twilight coming soon. Yen Press are set to publish a manga style version of the series, with Volume one being given a first print of 350,000. The original novel has been translated by Young Kim with input from Meyer.
