He wasn't hitting the high notes anymore. He'd just improvise down to some lower note and it'd sound awkward. His voice doesn't sound as strong as it used to either. It wasn't bad, but dude, as good as they were 30 years ago? We won't get fooled...ever again.

Forgot to add in Old Carlos Santana is every bit as good or better than hw was back in Woodstock and old Buddy Guy can still let it rip as does Mr. Clapton and a few others, but its rarified air that the Who is able to keep up with and they are in the GODS of ROCK category, last night just proved why.

When someone forms words with their mouth and different words are heard, that's the quite simple way to tell if someone is'nt really singing.

Daltry in "Won't get Fooled Again" (ironic) mouths "and I'll get on my knees and I'LL pray", when the audio doenst have the word "I'll". Then he comes in late on the word pray because of it.

Pretty simple and quite obvious he was lipping it!

The Who sounded just great. Everyone knows they are 65 year olds and they way outclassed the crappy last few "nostalgiia" Stones acts that charged a million bucks. I caught them last year at the Boston Garden and I thought they were just about as good as they were 20 years ago and in fact a bit tighter--they used to be all drunk and so loud and distorted that you could not always get a good listen over the noise.....I am amazed at mostly young uneducated punks ranking on one of the greatest iconic groups of the 60s. hell they put out an album, Endless WIre well past their prime that ranks up there with Quadrophenia..i mean these guys still love what they do--do it well. I dare anyone to tell me a band around now that is even close to the greatness of these chaps....yeah, the Dead (sans Garcia is tough to bear without old Jerry)....the Stones are a joke now.....Plant and Page? Not anymore.....nope the Who pretty much stands alone in not having ruined themselves with self indulgance and drugs.....rock on Pete and Roger, show was awesome!
A real fan....BP

I have been trying to figure out for a month why The WHo was picked for halftime...then it hit me: it was a prime time, huge advertisement for all of the CBS CSI shows. The performance was incredibly wesk, Daltrey's voice was little more than a growl, Townsend hit I think two decent notes...but the light show at least was more than acceptable. I understand the NFL being gun shy with newer acts since Timberlake/Jackson, but get real.

The Who was great in their day, but seriously? First of all it was only Roger and Pete. Maybe next year they will get Ringo and Paul on stage and claim that the Beatles are doing the halftime show! The NFL needs to get over the "Wardrobe Malfunction" and trust that there are quality bands and musicians out there that can put on a great show without controversy.

Are you kidding? The music was great but the vocals were absolutely painful to hear and watch! Roger could not force his voice to go where it hadn't gone for years!
Horrible vocals!
