Gatorade Drops Tiger Woods

tigerwoodsgatorade 300x190 Gatorade Drops Tiger WoodsTiger Woods was dropped by sponsor Gatorade on Friday, the latest in a string of corporate sponsors who have severed ties with the scandal-ridden golfer. After discontinuing their “Tiger Focus” sports drink last year, a PepsiCo spokesperson today said that they ” no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship.”

Accenture and AT&T are among other sponsors that have dropped the world’s wealthiest athlete, whose endorsement contracts earn him over $100 million per year.

PepsiCo did clarify that they would continue to support Woods’ charitable foundation, adding in their statement that the “partnership with the Tiger Woods Foundation will continue. We wish him all the best.”

Daily Buzz: ‘Star Trek’ Star Mourns Son, CBS Halts Production on ‘Men’, Levi Johnston to Pay Up?

281x2112 Daily Buzz: Star Trek Star Mourns Son, CBS Halts Production on Men, Levi Johnston to Pay Up?Star Trek star Walter Koenig and his wife Judy are mourning the death of their son, Andrew Koenig.

The body of Growing Pains actor Andrew Koenig was found in Vancouver yesterday.  Walter and Judy Koenig made a statement to the media Thursday evening, in an attempt to reach out to people who were in emotional pain like their son.  MTV News reported on yesterday’s press conference and Walter Koenig’s statement:

“My son took his own life,” Koenig’s father, “Star Trek” icon Walter Koenig, said between long pauses. “The only thing I want to say is — we’ve already said what a good guy he was and a good human being…and he was obviously in a lot of pain…for those families who have members they fear are susceptible to this kind of behavior, don’t ignore it, don’t rationalize it.”

CBS is temporarily halting production of Two and a Half Men since Charlie Sheen is in rehab.  Earlier this week, Sheen entered a rehabilitation facility “as a preventative measure.”  Today, Sheen’s bosses expressed support for the actor and said that they would temporarily stop production of the show.

Levi Johnston has been ordered to pay up! An Alaskan judge ordered Levi Johnston to pay $18,500 in back child support for his 13-month-old son, Tripp. Johnston, 19, must pay $1,688.42 in child support to ex-fiancee Bristol Palin, daughter of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Andrew Koenig ‘Growing Pains’ Actor Found Dead

koenig death 269x300 Andrew Koenig Growing Pains Actor Found DeadGrowing Pains actor Andrew Koenig is dead.  At a press conference this evening, his father Walter Koenig was in tears as he confirmed the sad news that his son, Andrew Koenig was found dead today in a Vancouver Park.  Walter Koenig told the press the news and had a message for people in emotional pain:

My son took his own life.

If you can learn anything from this, it’s that there are people out there who really care, and you may not think so, and ultimately it may not be enough, but … before you make that final decision, check it out again, talk to somebody.

Walter Koenig and his wife Judy and some of Andrew’s friends had returned to Vancouver’s Stanley Park on Thursday morning to search for him.  It was during this search that Andrew’s body was found.  The Los Angeles Times reported that Andrew had been missing since Valentine’s Day:

Andrew Koenig, who played best friend Richard “Boner” Stabone to Kirk Cameron’s Mike Seaver on the sitcom in the late 1980s, was last seen on Valentine’s Day in Vancouver, where he had been visiting friends. He was reported missing Feb. 18 after failing to catch a Feb. 16 flight home to the L.A. area. His cellphone was last used Feb. 16. Andrew’s parents, Walter and Judy Koenig, said they received a letter from him last week in which their son wrote in a “despondent tone.” He had stopped taking medication for depression about a year ago, said his father, one of the stars of the original “Star Trek” series.
