Carrie joins a pretty impressive list of performers who have sung The Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl including Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick, Jr., Garth Brooks, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Cher, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, Dixie Chicks and Beyoncé Knowles!

Snooki wants her own show? One of the stars of the infamous Jersey Shore TV series, Nicole Polizzi wants her own show, a spinoff of the surprise hit from MTV. The cast of Jersey Shore is in the middle of negotiations for a second season.

J.D. Salinger, author of Catcher in the Rye died today at age 91.

John Edwards Asked Aide to Steal Diaper for DNA?

Andrew Young is lashing out at John Edwards for waiting so long to admit that he’s the daddy of Rielle Hunter’s 2-year-old daughter, Quinn. A former aide to John Edwards, Young told ABC News:

I think those were words, empty words. If that is what he wanted to say, he should have said it two years ago. And there has been plenty of time…Now I think it’s just a PR campaign.

Attorney Harrison Hickman told ABC News that Edwards made his announcement Thursday because arrangements for child support were just finalized in the last few days.

Or maybe John Edwards confession was brought on by the fact that Andrew Young’s new book, The Politician, is out on February 2? I think that might have something to do with it.

Kimmel was featured on The Jay Leno Show’s “10@10″ segment and he was harsh! For example, Leno asked Kimmel about the best prank he ever pulled and Jimmy replied:

I think the best prank I ever pulled was I told a guy that five years from now I’m gonna give you my show and then when the five years came, I gave it to him and then I took it back almost instantly. It was hilarious…I think he works at Fox or something now.

Project Runway is back! Season 7 of Lifetime’s reality fashion show aired last night as millions of Project Runway addicts squealed with delight.

Stephenie Meyer: No Drama Over ‘Breaking Dawn’ Movie

Stephenie Meyer responded to rumors about Breaking Dawn. Meyer countered a report from E! that there was a conflict with Summit Entertainment over the Breaking Dawn film with a message on her website:

Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I’ve said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I’m all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I’ve spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We’re all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip get fabricated to stir things up, but there’s no basis to this particular story.

American Idol is returning! The season premiere is Jan. 12, 8 p.m. on Fox. American Idol will have a new judge, Ellen DeGeneres who replaces Paula Abdul. It will be interesting to see how DeGeneres will fit in with the other three judges. Are you going to watch on January 12?

Charlie Sheen went back to work on this show Two and a Half Men. Saturday was the actor’s first show taping since his arrest on felony charges for assaulting his wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day.

In a new biography about Warren Beatty, author Peter Biskind ventures to guess how many women the actor and notorious ladies man has been with…and the figure is staggering. Using “simple arithmetic,” Biskind estimates the number to be “12,775 women, give or take, a figure that does not include daytime quickies, drive-bys, casual gropings, stolen kisses and so on.”

Beatty, 72, agreed to the biography and dished on his long list of leading ladies.

Almost 13,000? Is that even possible? When did the man work or do anything else?

Are the Jonas Brothers heading for splitsville? Tween and teen girls would be heartbroken, but the buzz is that the wholesome boy band could be calling it quits. After the eldest Jonas tied the knot last month and Nick focusing on a possible solo career, PopEater’s Rob Shuter thinks signs point to the end of the Jonas Brothers in 2010.

Have you read Midnight Sun? The fifth book in The Twilight Series from Stephenie Meyer, Midnight Sun, was leaked to the web last year and Meyer put the rough draft of the first 12 chapters of the book online for all her fans to read. I’d never head of this but over the holiday break, on of my fellow Twilight addict pals told me about the Midnight Sun draft on Meyer’s website, so I downloaded it and read it ASAP, of course!
