Daily Buzz: Dirty Dancing Remake Planned, Gavin DeGraw Hospitalized After Assault
Lionsgate Films and Kenny Ortega are planning to remake the 1987 classic, Dirty Dancing! Ortega, who is best known for the High School Musical films was the original choreographer on the iconic film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. No names have been floated who will fill Swayze and Grey’s dancing shoes, but Ortega told US Weekly that the Swayze role of the sexy Johnny will be tough to cast, “Patrick Swayze set the bar for men dancing in the movies as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire did before him.” Tell us: who would you like to see in the modern version of Dirty Dancing?
Singer Gavin DeGraw is in the hospital after being assaulted by a gang in New York’s East Village. The New York Post reports that the 34-year old “Chariot” crooner was attacked around 4am and after being beaten by the men, who broke his nose, he was hit by a cab while stumbling away. DeGraw is recovering at Bellevue Hospital.
