Heidi Montag is making the rounds, dishing about her plastic surgery. From the People cover claiming she’s addicted to plastic surgery to appearances on entertainment TV shows and Good Morning America saying she’s not addicted, there’s a lot of buzz about Heidi’s work.
Addicted or not, the 23-year old reality TV star and wannabe singer says she’s looking forward to even more surgical procedures in the future.
So, we asked our go-to cosmetic surgery specialist, Dr. Gabriel Chiu of Beverly Plastic Surgery Inc. for his take. Here’s what he had to say:
Ten surgeries, or ten hours of surgery, or both… While anything is possible, most plastic surgeons would likely agree with me that this is too much elective cosmetic surgery to perform in one day. Although Heidi is a healthy young woman who appears to have recovered well, ten hours of surgery would be an unnecessary risk with potential harm to her health and safety. If Heidi did have it all in one day, she likely stayed in a hospital or at a surgical aftercare facility with 24 hour nursing care following surgery.
So, what exactly were the ten procedures Heidi had done? She’s said in interviews that she didn’t leave her house for seven weeks following the surgeries — is that kind of recovery expected? Dr. Chiu offers his expert opinion based on Heidi Montag’s before and after photos:
My understanding is that she had ten procedures, including a revision rhinoplasty (nose job), mini browlift, otoplasty (ears pinned back), liposuction (waist, hips, inner and outer thighs), fat transfer (to lips, cheeks, and nasolabial folds), removal/replacement of breast implants, and buttock augmentation. She also had Botox injections, a non-surgical procedure. As a matter of fact, her “mini browlift,” which may have been performed through small incisions above the hairline, could have been performed non-surgically with Botox as well. Buttock augmentation could have been performed with silicone implants or with fat transfer in a procedure popularly known as a “Brazilian butt lift.” This would require harvesting fat for transfer through liposuction, which she had performed in various areas. I believe she had buttock augmentation with fat transfer — and either method can present some problems: for best results, it would not be recommended for Heidi to place any weight on her butt by sitting or lying down. Too much pressure will cause the fat to die from lack of blood flow instead of grafting into the surrounding tissues and survive. Most patients will lie on their stomach for 1-2 weeks.
So, after hearing about what Heidi Montag went through to achieve her “new” look — what do you think? Worth it or not?
