I’ve been lucky enough to hang with the fabulous Anna Vocino, who I consider to be the queen of multi-tasking, a few times and I’m always amazed by her seemingly limitless energy…and of course her quick wit.
Currently starring on Comedy Central’s “Free Radio,” Anna has appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and makes frequent cameos on Funny or Die vids.
And her voice graces hundreds of radio commercials and video games. And she blogs. Anna serves up Gluten-Free recipes that are to. die. for. at glutenfreeanna.blogspot.com.
Anna somehow managed to squeeze in a minute to take a GLOSS Pop Quiz:
GLOSS: When you wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing you do?
Grope my husband, giggle, then put on socks.
GLOSS: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received from a girlfriend?
I hafta narrow it down? Without my girl friends, I would fall apart! Hmmmm. The best advice would’ve been to get the epidural (but I didn’t listen, and it HURT).
GLOSS: What’s your guilty pleasure?
Nescafe Frappe from Greece. It has to be the Nescafe canister from the actual country of Greece, or else I know it won’t have enough caffeine. It’s Greek Crack.
GLOSS: What gadget can’t you live without?
The Crackberry. Do you see a recurring theme here?
GLOSS: Do you believe in luck? Why or why not?
I believe in alignment. I just happen to be luckiest when I’m happy and aligned. Coincidence? Maybe.
GLOSS: What are some of your favorite beauty products?
The Beauty Blender egg shaped sponge–it applies foundation better than anything. The Hot Tools Hot Air Brush has gifted me with the ability to do my own blow-out. Genius. I also love any hand cream that actually moisturizes. I always come back to Kiehl’s and Bliss hand creams. I’ve got frizzy Italian girl hair that needs serious taming. My hair eats regular conditioners for breakfast, but I love Alterna 10 Conditioner to do the job.
GLOSS: What’s been the biggest surprise about motherhood?
Every step of the way, my child surprises me at how much she knows. I have to be the one who lets go constantly, to release the urge to micromanage.
She has taught me way more than I ever expected: how to enjoy myself for no reason, how to be relaxed and joyful, how to always seek an opportunity to have fun, and how fun it is to be creative for its own sake.
GLOSS: What’s keeping you busiest right now?
Cooking, blogging, voice overs, and comedy! Free Radio begins airing Monday 11/16 on Comedy Central after the Colbert Report. And, I’m producing a funny series of podcasts called Yoda And Me podcast. And of course, if you like to cook or eat (hello!), check out Gluten Free Anna. Follow me on twitter, too: @annavo
