Rihanna says she was ashamed to go back to Chris Brown following the attack.

That’s embarrassing — that’s the type of person I fell in love with. So far in love, so unconditional, that I went back. That’s not what I want to teach people.

The singer hinted that it may have taken “eight or nine attempts” before she could finally leave the relationship, which  supported Diane Sawyer’s statement that the average woman makes seven attempts to leave an abusive partner.

A court order makes a reconciliation impossible – a judge has ordered Chris Brown not to contact Rihanna for five years as part of his sentence.
