Daily Buzz: Oscars Defend Fawcett Snub, Letterman Extortionist Guilty

After the fans and family of Farrah Fawcett expressed their sadness that the iconic 80s actress who died after a long battle with cancer last year was left out of the Academy Awards “In Memoriam” segment on Sunday, the Oscars is defending the omission. Oscar bosses said with limited time for the look back at film stars, screenwriters and others who contributed to movies, they didn’t have enough time to include the TV star, who should be included in a montage at a show like the Emmys. Ouch.
David Letterman’s former colleague turned extortionist pleaded guilty yesterday. Robert Joel Halderman, a former producer for CBS, admitted that he tried to blackmail the late-night host by threatening to reveal his affairs with women who worked with him.
According to Simon Cowell, Crystal Bowersox could be the season nine American Idol winner! After her performance of Tracy Chapman’s “Give Me One Reason,” Simon told her, “you’re the one to beat.” That’s gotta be tough for the remaining contestants to hear…
