Woman hero Fort Hood1 [buzzGLOSS] Kimberly Munley: Hero of the Fort Hood Shooting Rampage

Kimberly Munley is the hero and civilian police officer, who saved lives when she put an end to the Fort Hood rampage by shooting Major Hasan 4 times, even while Officer Munley herself was wounded.

Officer Kimberly Munley is currently in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds. She is in stable condition. She is a hero, according to Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, who gave a statement to the media this morning:

Sgt. Kimberly Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of reported gunfire Thursday afternoon. Officer Munley shot the gunman four times despite being shot herself. It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer.

Munley’s Twitter page features a picture of her with the country music star Dierks Bentley at the Fort Hood “Freedom Fest” on July 4.   Her Twitter biography reads: “I live a good life … a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully @ night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone’s life.”

Another fact that emerged today is that Major Hasan, a Muslim who had argued with his comrades against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and had been trying to get out of the Army, shouted “Allah akbar” – Arabic for “God is great” – as he launched the attack.
