Sgt. Kimberly Munley’s heroics are not surprising to her family. Munley, who shot an Army psychiatrist suspected of opening fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, is a “great person with a great spirit”, according to her stepmother.
Munley’s stepmother Wanda Barbour told The Star-News of Wilmington that she knew Sgt. Kimberly Munley was involved when she heard a female officer at Fort Hood had shot and wounded Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.
When they said a female officer, a little part of me just knew. She is a very great person with a great spirit.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the 34-year-old Munley, who was wounded, is recovering and in stable condition.
This morning, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of reported gunfire Thursday afternoon. Cone said Munley shot the gunman several times despite being shot herself.
What a tough cop! Big kudos to Kimberly Munley!
