newmoonposter 227x300 New Moon Review: Just Your Basic Love StoryWhy do people go crazy over the Twilight Saga? What is it about this story that makes grown women and teen girls alike swoon?

Here’s our take: because the real story at the crux of the Twilight series isn’t about vampires or werewolves–it’s about love. First love. It’s universal because so many people can relate to the experience of finding that first true love.

We all remember the feelings that only come with that first big love.  Feeling like you’d literally die if you couldn’t have that person in your life.

Young women relate to Twilight because they’re experiencing that narcotic for the first time, but the appeal goes beyond teens–which is why it’s such a worldwide phenom. The saga resonates so strongly with millions because it takes people back to our experiences with our first true love.

Most of us don’t marry our first love.  Marriage and long-term relationships are way more about daily life–paying bills, kids, in-laws–the mundane stuff of everyday life.  The boring life stuff that isn’t part of the first love experience. It’s exciting to re-live.

In New Moon, the scene where Edward breaks up with Bella gave me a stomachache–because it brought back memories of my first love breaking up with me.  My first major love was in college and when he broke up with me, I literally thought my world had ended.  My heart broke in a thousand different piece–I still wince when I think how painful it was to recover from that relationship.

Twilight and The Twilight Saga New Moon are over-the-top melodramatic. But if you let yourself watch the movies, read the books, you can’t help but feel the pull that takes you back to a time when love was raw, and you were on a emotional huge roller coaster ride of feeling for another person.

People are so crazy about the Twilight Saga because it’s about love. Take a peek:
