[buzzGLOSS] Brooke Hundley and Steve Phillips? Why Do Successful Men Have Foolish Affairs? Here is a picture of Brooke Hundley, the twenty-something at the heart of the ESPN Sex Scandal.

ESPN baseball analyst Steve Phillips, the former general manager of the Mets, had an affair with Brooke Hundley. She’s 22. Steve Phillips is 46, successful and very married.

Phillips has taken a leave of absence from ESPN and made a statement to the media he is sorry to have “put his family and colleagues through this.”

To use the words of my teenage daughter…Duh! At what point is having sex with a woman half your age—who is not your wife—a good idea? Seriously.

According to MyFoxNY.com, Phillips told police that “Hundley became obsessive and delusional” after he left her, but he did not file criminal charges.  I believe that Hundley’s behavior after the affair ended was wrong—but so is sleeping with young girls! I can already see that Steve Phillips is going to try to play the “crazy” card and put the focus on the woman and not his behavior.

Why do powerful, successful men like Steve Phillips and David Letterman engage in risky affairs?  Is the sex with the younger women that much better or is it something else?
