ABC kicked of their 13th season of Dancing with the Stars tonight and the controversy-laden hit series opened with a bang! After enduring rounds of punches for casting transgender celebrity Chaz Bono as a contestant, DWTS had the last laugh when Bono and pro partner Lacey Schwimmer cha cha’d to “Dancing In the Street” to great compliments from the judges and a standing ovation from the in-studio audience.

Chaz proved that his song-and-dance roots provided well for him — with the judges praising his performance. “You can dance!” Carrie Ann Inaba exclaimed after the performance. Even stickler Len Goodman complimented the activist and documentary star commending him for his attitude and heart.

All in all, Bono and Schwimmer landed in the middle of the pack as far as scoring with 17 out of 30 points.

Proud mama Cher tweeted her excitement sharing:

“WOW ! HOW GREAT WAS MY SON,” Cher wrote. “‘THE GREATEST,THING GREATEST THING,GREATESTTHING NO MATTER WHAT !WHAT! WHAT!’ HES A WINNER ! I Was So Nervous.”

Here’s to hoping that the public will vote on merit and put aside controversy. We want to see more from Chaz!

Kate Gosselin: DWTS Wait ‘Torture’, Dance Routine on Jon and Kate’s Marriage?

Kate Gosselin said she wanted to throw up last night on Dancing with the Stars as she waited to find out if she was coming back for week three. It’s a good thing Kate made it because for DWTS week 3, Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani will create a dance routine inspired by Kate’s marriage to Jon Gosselin!

Gosselin is relieved that she wasn’t the first to go on DWTS and told Entertainment Tonight that the wait was torture:

I also thought I was going to throw up at the end. My gosh, that is just pure torture, is it not?

For next week’s Dancing With the Stars, the challenge is to create a dance routine based on the life of each celeb. Kate and Tony will create a dance based on the marriage of Jon and Kate Gosselin? The hilarious PopWatch had this to say about the new dance routine:

Tony’s on his own for the choreography, but I strongly recommend that he invest in some seafoam-colored contacts to truly achieve the essence of Jon. Are any of you more likely tune into this show on Monday?

Here’s my question: Don’t they need more than two people dancing in a routine based on Jon and Kate’s marriage, since Jon Gosselin was such a cheater? Just a thought…

Whaaa? Viewers chose to save clunky Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin? Ultimately, it was Doherty who was the first star to get cut…and we have to say, we’re a little bummed. In addition to the fact that she recovered from a hideous first performance, “Dancing” showed us a softer side of the former Beverly Hills vixen. Upon learning her fate, Doherty said:

“Dancing isn’t really my thing. I did it for my dad. To see [his] face light up the way that it did and how proud he was of me just filled me with this kind of amazing emotion of thankfulness. I call that a success.”

Following even deeper in Tiger Woods’ footsteps, Sandra Bullock‘s cheatin’ hubby, Jesse James has checked into rehab. The reality TV star and motorcycle mogul’s rep said in a statement that “Jesse checked himself into a treatment facility to deal with personal issues. He realized that this time was crucial to help himself, help his family and help save his marriage.”

Big surprise of the night so far on DWTS? Pamela Anderson is at the bottom! Pamela and her dance partner got some of the best scores from the judges but America didn’t vote for them.

Kate Gosselin: ‘DWTS’ Drama Bickering with Partner Tony Dovolani?

Kate Gosselin was in the middle of major drama on Dancing With the Stars last night!

The former TLC reality mom seen on last night’s DWTS bickering with partner Tony Dovolani during rehearsals. At one point, Tony got fed up, said he was quitting and walked out. CNN reports that Dovolani said:

Nothing in dancing is natural to Kate.

Gosselin looked fab last night but when she danced, Kate looked at Tony for direction and often appeared lost. Even worse, DWTS Judge Bruno Tonioli compared Kate to a Stepford wife—OUCH!

Pamela Anderson: Classy Dress, Great Dancing on ‘DWTS’

Pamela Anderson looked very classy and danced like a dream tonight on Dancing with the Stars! After last week’s racy debut, Pamela’s dancing tonight rocked the dance floor.

Erin Andrews told Entertainment Tonight that her fellow Dancing with the Stars contestant is really nice and that Pamela sent her flowers! Andrews dished about being surprised by flowers and a note from her ballroom competitor Pamela Anderson. Erin told ET:

It was so amazing. Maks and I had just gotten back to the trailer, and I walked in and I saw the flowers. We read the card, and it was the most fabulous card. It said, ‘Break a lash. Love, Pamela.

I cannot begin to explain how all encompassing this dancing stuff is. I’m still in shock that, I, Kate Gosselin, am learning to dance … and then performing for 24-million live viewers. At first, my total insecurities about my body, my coordination and my doubt that I had the ability to dance stopped me from seeing this opportunity as total fun. It’s a “job” that allows me to break out of my analytical way of thinking — schedules, providing, bill-paying, meal-making, securing the present and the long-term future for my eight kids, to name a few of the many never-ending tasks.

Knock ‘em dead Kate! Gosselin turned 35 on Sunday, let’s hope she can celebrate by staying on DWTS!

Kate Gosselin: Happy 35th Birthday! Better than Last Year?

Kate Gosselin spent her 35th birthday today in Los Angeles, away from her kids, rehearsing for Dancing With the Stars.

US Magazine reports that Kate spent most of the day apart from her children on Saturday as well, even though she was at the family home in Pennsylvania for half the day.

Early Saturday morning, Kate’s bodyguard Steve Neild and his wife, Gina, arrived with a birthday gift for Kate. Kate’s DWTS partner Tony Dovolani arrived at the family home about 9:30 a.m. for a three-hour practice session in the basement.

On Saturday afternoon, Steve and Kate and Tony headed to the airport and to Los Angeles to tape Dancing with the Stars.

Kate’s 35th birthday is way better than her last birthday! Last year, Kate she spent her big day alone while husband Jon Gosselin took his girlfriend Deanna Hummel snowboarding in Utah.
