Spring Forward, Check Smoke Detectors On Sunday

firealarm 300x225 Spring Forward, Check Smoke Detectors On SundayDaylight Savings Time begins this Sunday, March 14th, and along with setting our clocks ahead an hour, firefighters across the country are reminding Americans to also replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

The New York Fire Department is spreading the word that even though 97% of homes have a smoke alarm, more than 33% of them don’t work because they have a missing or dead battery. It’s important to test your hazard detectors each month and replace the batteries twice a year. And the start and end of Daylight Savings Time is the perfect time for the bi-annual battery change.
