Mel Gibson Calls Reporter “A–hole” During ‘Edge of Darkness’ Interview

melgibson 214x300 Mel Gibson Calls Reporter A hole During Edge of Darkness InterviewNote to fellow reporters: do not ask Mel Gibson about his rocky past. Especially first thing in the morning.

While promoting his new film, “Edge of Darkness,” Mel got a little testy with a Chicago TV host who pried a bit too much about the movie legend’s controversial recent past.

While talking to Dean Richards, an entertainment reporter for Chicago’s WGN-TV via satellite, Gibson asked Richards to clarify what he was referring to when asked if the actor’s fans may perceive him differently now.

Richards clarified, by saying, “You know what I’m referring to. The drinking problems, the anti-semetic rant…all the things that have been in the press.”

Clearly peeved, the Academy Award-winner replied, “That’s almost four years ago, dude. I’ve done all the necessary mea culpas. Let’s move on.”

Awkward!

The interview quickly ended after that, and Gibson could be heard muttering “a**hole” under his breath as the camera cut away. Watch the uncomfortable interview below:

Edge of Darkness: Mel Gibson is Back and Better Than Ever

edge darkness1 300x276 Edge of Darkness: Mel Gibson is Back and Better Than EverMel Gibson is back and he’s better than ever in the new action flick, Edge of Darkness. Mel is on the edge as a Boston police detective trying to find people who killed his daughter.  After nearly eight years (Signs was his most recent starring role), Gibson is back on the big screen in a starring role and if you like action movies, you’ll love Edge of Darkness.

If you like your movies with lots of sunshine, unicorns and rainbows, you might want to skip this movie.  But if you’re a fan of a good action flick, Edge of Darkness will rock your socks off!

The story is based on a 1985 British TV miniseries and in addition to Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone stars as an  assassin with a heart of gold.  Winstone’s character is fabulous and he is a great addition to the plot.  Danny Huston plays a villan you’ll love to hate, as the head of a very bad giant corporation.

Gibson’s homicide detective Tommy Craven has a grown daughter, Emma (Bojana Novakovic), who works as a researcher at a nuclear energy company, Northmoor. Emma comes home for a visit and is shot on Tommy’s front porch.  Because he’s a cop, everyone assumes the hit was meant for Tommy. But when a grieving Tommy finds a pistol among Emma’s possessions, he starts to investigate. After Emma’s death, the body count begins and you’ll spend the rest of the movie on the edge of your seat.

Action flicks are always better with a good catchphrase!  For example, Clint Eastwood’s famous “Go ahead, make my day” line in his role as Detective Harry Callahan in the 1983 film Sudden Impact. Audiences cheered Bruce Willis in Die Hard when he said “Yippee ki-ay, **********!”. Mel Gibson has a great tough guy catchphrase in this movie:

You had better decide whether you’re hangin’ on the cross… or bangin’ in the nails

I loved this movie! You can read more about the movie on the Edge of Darkness website or get a preview by watching the clip below.
