Leonardo DiCaprio: Filming ‘Shutter Island’ was Traumatic

shutter island Leonardo DiCaprio: Filming Shutter Island was TraumaticLeonardo DiCaprio stars in Shutter Island but he says the movie isn’t one he will forget any time soon. The thriller hits theaters this weekend, with early reviews raving about the Martin Scorsese film.  In an interview with Parade.com, the actor talked about his experience while working on Shutter Island.

I have to say ‘Shutter Island’ was one of the most intense, hardcore filming experiences I’ve ever had as we explored what the mentally ill had to face in the days when mental hospitals were called insane asylums. It was really very traumatic, and I don’t say that about a film very often. I went to places and unearthed some things that I didn’t think I was capable of. It was like an emotional layer cake that just kept getting deeper and deeper.

DiCaprio said that the project not only haunted him while he was asleep, but during his days of preparation and while on the set. Poor Leo! The trailer for Shutter Island is enough to give me nightmares!  This movie looks so scary but so good. Watch the trailer below or check out the movie website at ShutterIsland.com.
