nick cannon mariah carey 300x169 Cannon Attempts Hugging World Record Caring Nick Cannon is aiming for a place in the Guinness World Records after staging a stunt on Friday to earn him the title for the most hugs given in one hour. Mariah Carey’s husband attempted the feat at New York’s Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets baseball team, and he was confident he would succeed.

In a post on his website, the America’s Got Talent host wrote, “I am going to make HISTORY!”

Cannon’s record attempt has yet to be verified by Guinness officials, but he would have had to beat the current best of 1,749 hugs in an hour.

Celebrity Perez Hilton has begun a full-scale attack on Twitter against Tila Tequila. Casey Johnson’s wife-to-be and the mega blogger are having a war of words in the press because Perez has been quite vocal about Johnson’s drug use.

Casey Johnson’s funeral is set for later this week. Casey is survived by her daughter Ava-Monroe, her parents and two sisters. The troubled heiress was found dead in Los Angeles on Monday.

Mariah Carey placed part of the blame for her bizarre speech at the Palm Springs Film Festival on her director. Lee Daniels, the director of the film Precious is a “bad influence” according to Carey.

A crew from Animal Planet was filming for the reality action series Whale Wars when their ship collided with a Japanese whaling ship.

The popular Animal Planet show Whale Wars got some pretty amazing footage when the Japanese whaler collided with a conservation group’s ship from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. No one was seriously hurt in the Antarctic smash-up but there was still plenty of drama.

Mariah Carey’s Drunken Acceptance Speech: Oh My Goodness!

Mariah Carey took home an award for Best Breakthrough Performance at the Palm Springs Film Festival last night…but it was her acceptance speech for which she’ll likely be most remembered.

Admitting that she had a little too much (we’re thinking she had a bit more than a little) to drink, the songstress had a hard time getting through her speech or making much of a point.

The award is often a predictor for the Academy Awards…let’s hope if she takes home an Oscar, she waits until after her speech to hit the bar!

One can hope that we’ve seen the end of the Ed Hardy clad, midlife crisis poster boy, but something tells us that’s not going to happen.

Mariah Carey won an award for her role in the film “Precious.” Carey, who plays an unglamorous, no-nonsense social worker in the film, will be honored for Breakthrough Performance at the Palm Springs Film Festival. The award, which often predicts Academy Award winners, comes eight years after Mariah was named the Worst Actress in a Film by the Razzies for her role in “Glitter.”

Paula Deen got an unexpected serving of ham — in the face. The Food Network queen was helping unload 25,000 pounds of food at an Atlanta food bank yesterday when someone threw one of the hams like a football and accidentally smacked her. Paula told a local TV station that she was fine, “It just knocked me for a little bit.” After the incident, she tweeted, “I haven’t met the ham that could stop me yet!”
