80+ Stars Re-Record “We Are The World” To Benefit Haiti
Twenty-five years after the original was recorded, 80 musicians gathered in the same studio last night to re-record “We Are The World.” In 1985, Quincy Jones organized artists to record the Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson-penned anthem to benefit African famine relief. This year, a new group of artists came together to benefit victims of the Haitian earthquake.
Among the star-studded group who descended on Henson Studios in Los Angeles last night were Pink, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, Joel Madden, Joe Jonas, Enrique Iglesias, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J and Wyclef Jean.
“We Are the World — 25 for Haiti” will debut later this month during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC.
