80+ Stars Re-Record “We Are The World” To Benefit Haiti

Twenty-five years after the original was recorded, 80 musicians gathered in the same studio last night to re-record “We Are The World.” In 1985, Quincy Jones organized artists to record the Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson-penned anthem to benefit African famine relief. This year, a new group of artists came together to benefit victims of the Haitian earthquake.

Among the star-studded group who descended on Henson Studios in Los Angeles last night were Pink, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, Joel Madden, Joe Jonas, Enrique Iglesias, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J and Wyclef Jean.

“We Are the World — 25 for Haiti” will debut later this month during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC.

Lenny Kravitz confirmed that a song that leaked over the weekend–”Another Day”– which was being dubbed a collaboration between him and the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, is the real deal.

“The version that’s out is… not mixed, but it is the track,” says Kravitz in a video response her posted today on Twitter. “The song was recorded by Michael and myself. I produced it for him, I wrote the song, and I played all the instruments on the track. It was one of the most amazing musical experiences that I’ve ever had. It was done by two people who had respect for each other and who loved music.”

But, the track will likely not be released–Jackson’s estate and Sony are looking to have the leaked track removed from the web.
