Daily Buzz: Oprah Settles Lawsuit, Katherine Heigl Officially Off ‘Grey’s’
Oprah Winfrey has settled a lawsuit brought on by the former headmistress of the school bearing the Queen of Media’s name in South Africa. Nomvuho Mzamane led the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls until reports of abuse by another staff member were reported by students. Mzamane sued Winfrey for defamation which made it difficult for her to find another job. A trial was to begin on Monday on the matter, but lawyers for both parties yesterday released a statement saying that he dispute has been settled “peacefully to their mutual satisfaction.”
It’s official! Katherine Heigl is “done” with Grey’s Anatomy. In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, the actress spills the news after “just [finalizing] our agreement.” She goes on to say, “Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.” Why is Izzy Stevens permanently leaving Seattle Grace? “I started a family and it changed everything for me,” she says. “It changed my desire to work full-time.”


Jennifer Lopez fell during her performance at the American Music Awards last night. The pop diva recovered quickly (see video below)and like a pro, hopped right back up and finished her song, “Louboutins.” The flub was edited out of re-broadcasts of the show.
