Hot or Hype? We Put SmoothAway to the Test

smoothaway2 Hot or Hype? We Put SmoothAway to the TestSmoothAway, touted as a “revolutionary” European hair removal product, claims gently remove hair instantly without any pain or chemicals. And, per the infomercial, if you buy now, you can get an extra package for free! So, is SmoothAway another overly hyped “As Seen on TV” product or does it really work? We put it to the test.

SmoothAway comes with two applicators covered in “superfine crystals” – one large, one small – for use on various body parts. Rub the applicator in circles where you have unwanted hair — and voila! – the hair is gone.

I tested the small applicator on my upper lip and the large one on my arms.

The small applicator takes some work to maneuver and get used to, but it worked VERY well. Within just a few minutes, my upper lip was just as smooth as when I wax.

OK – next, my arms. I have HATED the dark hair on my arms for my entire life and have been saving up to have it lasered off. Again, SmoothAway worked incredibly well – and it took just a few minutes. The hair did grow back fairly quickly – I noticed some light stubble appear in about a week – but I was able to buff it right off again.

So, even though I’m not a huge fan of products hawked on infomercials, I’m a SmoothAway convert.

SmoothAway — $14.99 for two packages at GetSmoothAway.com or at Target.
