In the long tradition of First Ladies before her, Michelle Obama donated the gown she wore when her husband was sworn in as President to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History today.
The one-shoulder, white gown designed by newcomer Jason Wu, will be the centerpiece of the museum’s “First Ladies of the Smithsonian” exhibit and will also be a part of a new exhibit which will feature 11 worn by First Ladies, called “A First Lady’s Debut.”
“I’ll never forget the moment that I slipped on this beautiful gown,” said Mrs. Obama. “I remember how just luscious I felt as the president and I were announced onto the stage for the first of many dances. And I’ll cherish that moment for the rest of my life.”
