Getting Juicy With Erin Fetherston

Last week, I enjoyed what turned out to be one of the most rewarding evenings of my entire journalistic career. (Thus far, that is.)
As you probably have heard through the grapevine, Erin Fetherston – one of the hottest designers in the galaxy – recently signed on with Juicy Couture as their creative consultant. We’ll see the product results of this amazing collaboration in the fall collection, but to pregame the excitement, she enjoyed a bit of a girls night out with a handful of bloggers last week, right in the heart of New York City.
To say I was thrilled, honored, and humbled to be included among the very few would be a vast understatement.
It was an amazing evening that began in the way that all fabulous evenings do — cocktails of pink champagne with my favorite girlfriend blogger colleagues – and when said cocktail is pink bubbles in the form of Champagne Taittinger Prestige Rosé, donated by Kobrand Wine & Spirits (http://www.kobrandwineandspirits.com), I’m beside myself before the evening even BEGINS.
As there was a table full of bloggers in the room, Juicy Couture gifted us all with Sony Bloggie video cam, which we were to use to help document this fabulous experience. (And I did! Check out the video I made of the Juicy jacket I ended up getting later in the night!)
Anyway, enough about me: Erin was awesome. Besides being gorgeous, and having created designs that are coveted worldwide, she’s totally cool. At one point, she shared hair tips with some of us. She says the way she maintains her trademark straight, edgy cut is to never use a round brush. Rather, she blows them out straight using a sharp nozzle and cuts them at least once a week.
Oh Erin, I cannot IMAGINE having the nerve to cut my own bangs. I cannot even cut a sheet of paper in a straight line!
After our dinner party, Erin took us for some after-hours shopping at the Juicy Couture west village location. While there, Erin hung out and helped us all pick our ideal personal pieces to take home. As you can tell from said video above, I chose the black Metallic Leather Jacket, as well as the Chiffon-Backed Cardigan.
All in all, a fascinating experience for me — beyond being exciting and super-fun — honestly, how many of you out there still live under the illusion that Juicy is all about track suits? It’s so much more…and the jacket I shall be wearing all season will attest to that!
