When finding jeans to fit your body shape you should always take into account what shape you actually are and the first step in determining that is to honestly study your shape in the mirror.
We consulted Lorna Burford, from Denimblog.com, and she shared some advice that’s going to go a long way on our next shopping trip!
Boy-Cut
If you are a boy shape, straight all the way down, then low rise jeans, skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans are your best bet in order to create the illusion of curves. You should stay away from bootcut or flared jeans as they will make you look bottom heavy. The aim is to retain your fundamental shape and not overwhelm your body.
Hourglass
If you are an hourglass shape, thin waist and curves, you are pretty lucky and can get away with most styles. Bootcut jeans will really balance out your shape, as will skinny jeans. Even high rise jeans will work with your body type. You should definitely go for figure hugging jeans as these will be most flattering and will further accentuate your shape.
Pear
If you are a pear shape, smaller on top and curvier on the bottom, I would recommend jeans that are wider at the bottom like a bootcut or a flared jean to balance out your hips and give you more of an hourglass silhouette. Stay away from super skinny jeans and high rise jeans; they won’t do you any favors.
