There’s so much going on in the next week, it may not be possible to share it all!
DailyCandy has introduced its first-ever NYFW series, profiling nine NYC-based indie designers as they create their spring 2011 collections, to be shown this week in New York.
Today, September 9, Swirl, DailyCandy’s apparel and accessories site, has started selling five of the designers’ current fall collections in a Swirl “Pop-up” Shop. The sales begin with Samatha Pleet, a Brooklyn based designer, whose focus is on animal prints, plaids, flattering rompers.
Ann Yee (9/9) - Her newest collection pairs colors that pop (citrine!) alongside muted neutrals — as well as intricately detailed trousers, ruched minis, and tops that manage somehow to be both edgy and sublimely feminine at the same time.
Whit (9/10)- She merges Parisian and preppy to bring us nautical striped tops; sweet, full-pleated skirts; and chic, vintage-inspired coats and capelets.
Bodkin (9/13) - Employs the most creative of green materials (recycled PET nylon, locally dyed Ahimsa silk, organic garment care labels) and combines them with the most modern of concepts (overlapping construction, asymmetrical lines, raw hems).
Tom Scott (9/14)- Specializing in knitwear, the former Ralph Lauren accessories guru balances luxury, inspired design, and a healthy dose of fun.
