EcoATM: Recycle Your Old Cell Phone and Get Paid!

Recycling your old cell phone just got a lot easier: EcoATM will be setting up kiosks across the country where you just drop in your old phone and instantly get an trade-up coupon or gift card.

After testing the concept in Nebraska, the company is rolling out kiosks at big box stores in San Diego, Washington and Vermont over the next few months.

Next year, the “ATMs” will also accept other gadgets like MP3 players, cameras and even laptops.

So what if your phone from 2002 isn’t worth anything? The EcoATM will still give you a gift for doing your part: a free waterproof phone case plus the company will plant a tree for every phone deposited, regardless of condition.
