Sure, the awards and winners themselves were a thrill, but I was loving the fashion on the Red Carpet at last night’s 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards!
So many gorgeous dresses — I loved all the color (especially the season’s hot new trend: purple — my favorite!) and the range of classic to more edgy looks.
In addition to my favorites that hit the carpet first last night, here’s my round-up of the best looks from the 2009 Emmy Awards:

While some aren’t feeling Drew Barrymore‘s princess-like Monique Lhuillier dress, I love it!

Jennifer Love Hewitt wore a lemon-colored Max Azria gown — an unexpected color that worked perfectly on her.

Mad Men’s January Jones wins the edgy fashion award for last night with this futuristic Atelier Versace gown. Again, not everyone was loving this dress, but I thought the color worked well with her complexion and she looked stunning.

Eastwick’s Lindsay Price was one of many stars who hit the red carpet in purple. Love her one-shoulder J. Mendel gown with the vintage brooch!

Sandra Oh always looks incredible — and she donned my favorite dress of the night: an elegant, gold Marchesa gown.
Check out some of the other ladies who rocked the red carpet:
