Summer Flip-Flops: Less Flip Is Best For Feet

Summer has arrived and with it comes sandals, open-toed shoes and flip-flops to show off our pedicures. But, flip-flops can wreak havoc on your feet — causing pain, rough skin on your heels and more.
“The less flip in your flop, the better it is for your feet and legs,” said Justin Shroyer, a professor of kinesiology who studied how flip-flops can affect our legs and feet. Because some flip-flops don’t offer heel and arch support, it’s more difficult to walk in them — making our feet and lower legs work harder than even when barefoot.
So, when you’re shopping for those summer flip-flops you’ll likely live in this summer, try to find styles that have some arch and heel support. Here’s a round-up of some of our favorites:
FIT FLOPS:
These aren’t only cute and offer heel and arch support, but they actually make your leg muscles work harder, so you’re getting a mini-workout with each stride. It’s not just a marketing gimmick — Fit Flops really work — you’ll feel the difference from your calves up to your booty!

CROCS PREPAIR FLIP FLOPS:
Prepair flip flops from Crocs are sporty and stylish — and the sandals form to your foot so you get a natural motion when walking in them. Plus, they’re certified by United States Ergonomics — they’re proven to reduce muscle fatigue up to 62.6% more than standing barefoot.

COACH POPPY CHAN FLIP FLOP:
We love these cute, whimsical and colorful sandals from Coach — and we love that the inner soles are emblazoned with their classic logo. And, these flip flops have a little bit of height, cushioning and support for our summer toes.
