<description>As a fellow Registered Dietitian, I always appreciate articles which speak to the importance of following a healthy diet by following simple tips or strategies. In my daily meetings with clients, which include food and beverage industry representatives, I emphasize that moderation rather than elimination is the key to long-term weight loss success. It’s ok to enjoy your favorite treats occasionally, whether that is a sweetened beverage, brownie, or slice of pumpkin pie. We simply need to remember that balancing total caloric intake and output is the bottom line when it comes to weight loss. By choosing a variety of healthy foods in moderation and engaging in plenty of physical exercise we allow ourselves the freedom to enjoy our occasional favorites!
