Slim Fast has issued a recall of all — as in every one — of their canned meal replacement shakes over concern of bacteria contamination which could cause moderate food poisoning.
All cans and cartons of the ready-to-drink Slim Fast products are included, “regardless of flavor, best-by date, lot code or UPC number,” the recall announcement says.
The company said that quality assurance testing in their facilities turned up traces of Bacillus cereus, a non life-threatening toxin that can cause nausea and diarrhea.
A Slim Fast spokesperson urged consumers with recalled products “to discard them immediately and contact the company at 1-800-896-9479 for a full refund.”
