Posted on December 29, 2009 by Lolita Carrico
After recalling five lots of their Tylenol Arthritis product last month, Johnson & Johnson has expanded the voluntarily recall to all product lots of Tylenol Arthritis Pain Caplets in 100 count bottles with the red EZ-Open Cap.
The expanded recall comes after consumer reports of a moldy smell that cause nausea and stomach pain.
Johnson & Johnson said in a statement that the odor comes from very small amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole which believed to result from the breakdown of another chemical used to treat wooden pallets that transport and store packaging materials.
So far, the side effects, which also include vomiting and diarrhea, have been “temporary and non-serious.”
Consumers are encouraged to stop using the product immediately and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare for instructions on a refund or replacement.
For instructions on how to receive a refund or replacement, call 888-222-6036 or visit Tylenol.com for more information.
