Drinking Tea Lowers Heart Disease Risk

womandrinkingtea 300x225 Drinking Tea Lowers Heart Disease RiskThere are many benefits to drinking tea, but one recent study found that tea drinkers are less likely to die from heart disease than non-tea drinkers. Researchers in the Netherlands studied nearly 40,000 people for over a decade for the report which found that those who drank three to six cups of tea per day had a 45% lower risk of death from heart disease than people who drank less than one cup of tea a day.

And, 36% of those who drank six cups of tea a day had more than a 1/3 of the risk of heart disease overall compared to their non-tea drinking counterparts. Six cups of tea can seem like a lot — but even a little helps. The study also found that people who had two to four cups of tea a day still saw benefits — to the tune of 20% lower risk of heart disease.

So, which tea is best? Stay tuned for more articles about various teas and their benefits, but we’ll leave you with this: the study found that both green and black teas were beneficial in protecting our hearts. They both contain flavonoids which seem to be the magic antioxidant that have the protective effects.
