Fit Tip of the Day: Add a Mid-Walk Resistance Circuit

pushup Fit Tip of the Day: Add a Mid Walk Resistance CircuitSometimes the simple things in life are best. Walking is an invigorating and effective exercise that’s accessible for almost everybody. But if you’re an avid walker, you may want to boost your walking workout a bit.

Plan your walk out so at the halfway point you’ll be at a good location for a quick resistance circuit: a park, beach or even an empty school playground would be perfect. Start walking at a slow pace to warm up, then pick it up to a brisk pace. (The perfect pace should challenge you a bit, but you should still be able to carry on a conversation.) Once you reach your mid-way point, try this resistance circuit.

The circuit, as instructed by Exercise TV’s Laurel House, contains several variation on the plank, tricep dips and push ups. You’ll already be warmed up from your walk, so it’s the perfect time to get some strength moves in. Plus, the circuit offers you a nice break from your walk and will really boost the effectiveness of your exercise.

Interval walking is another good way to ramp up your workout.
