38256PSQUIRESTRAT 331x1024 Giveaway: Fender Squier Electric Guitar in Shell Pink!I get to play with a lot of really cool toys – and give away some awesome stuff too, but there’s others that I literally have to sit on my hands not to squeal about.

Some back story: Music & Arts, a musical instrument retailer is (excuse the pun!) – tuning up for a cause all throughout this month, which is Breast Cancer awareness month.

Music & Arts has teamed up with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and will donate 20% – 25% percent of sales of pink musical items to the non-profit. To raise awareness, music fans looking to hone their guitar skills can go to any of the Music & Arts retail locations (over 100 stores nationwide) from October 3 – November 6, and enter for a chance to win a Squier Bullet Stratocaster (MSRP $199.99), signed by Grammy-winning singer Michelle Branch.

We’re thrilled to contribute to such an important cause through our October sales promotion,” said Kenny O’Brien, President, Music & Arts. “Music & Arts has a longstanding commitment to supporting our local communities, and now we are proud to be able to give back to a worthy cause that affects so many women around the world.  Offering these special pink items in support of breast cancer research is a wonderful way to show how our employees can share the healing power of music.”

However, also available during this month is a special, unique and super-cool Squier Electric Guitar in Shell Pink, sold exclusively online at a discounted rate (MSRP: $200; web sale price: $119.99)

Gloss Find: Fender Launches Kurt Cobain Jaguar Guitar

fender kurt cobain guitar 114x300 Gloss Find: Fender Launches Kurt Cobain Jaguar GuitarFeeling a little Nirvana nostalgia of late?

Retro-fab is all over the place, and you aren’t alone: Fender has launched the Kurt Cobain Jaguar guitar, which is modeled on the battered 1965 Jaguar that Cobain used.

Pretty sexy, huh? It’s a great piece of music instrumentation: Fender reproduced the guitar’s worn finish, dual humbucking pickups and unique electronics and controls.

Some of the unique features include an alder body with Road Worn aged finish and hardware treatment, bound fretboard with pearloid dot markers, Stratocaster headstock shape, triple knurled knob configuration, three-position toggle switch and black chrome Adjusto-Matic bridge and Gotoh sealed tuners.

You can find out more about the guitar here.

I don’t even know how to play and I want one!

Rumor Mill: Is Facebook About to Launch a Music Service Called Facebook Vibes?

Interesting: Facebook may soon be launching a music service of their very own.

facebook logo Rumor Mill: Is Facebook About to Launch a Music Service Called Facebook Vibes? Here’s the scoop: Mashable reports that the code for a music service, called Vibes, was found hidden in some Facebook code.

The code also mentions a product called Facebook Peep, which is related to Facebook’s recently launched video chat software.

There was a rumor in May that Facebook was partnering with Spotify to launch a music service. If Facebook does launch a digital music service, they will have to battle some powerful opponents in Apple and Amazon.com – and elsewhere.

Are you intrigued by this possibility? There’s always room for more music in my life is all I have to say!

Album Review: Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light

foowl2 300x300 Album Review: Foo Fighters Wasting LightWords cannot describe how fantastic Foo Fighters: Wasting Light ($10) is.

This album is a dramatic departure from their previous studio releases, but if you like it rough and tough and fierce, this Foo is harder and heavier than ever.

It’s not all screams, heavy drums and guitar, there are still glimmers of sensitive, sweet rock, and with every listen… we want more. Oh Dave Grohl, I heart you!
