Gloss Find: Skullcandy Roc Nation Aviator Headphones

aviator s6avcm 072 1 300x233 Gloss Find: Skullcandy Roc Nation Aviator HeadphonesI don’t wear headphones. Usually. However with kids often making a ruckus in the background while I’m trying to chat with a client on Skype or listen in on a conference call, I had to start researching options. Unfortunately, standard earbuds wouldn’t do — they don’t filter out enough noise and if you’ve met my sons, you know they’re loud.

Then I came across these stylish headphones from Skullcandy – their Aviator model isn’t only comfortable to wear, but they completely minimize background noise for crystal clear sound and they feature a microphone, so you can use them with your cell phone or on Skype or Facetime chats. I love the all-white version and they’re also available in black, bronze or “The Ting Tings” — named after and designed by the Indie pop duo.

Wish List: Sony Tablet S

sony tablet s1 300x194 Wish List: Sony Tablet SThis week, I came *this close* to finally getting an iPad. My tablet alternatives just couldn’t compare and I constantly experienced iPad envy when ALL MY FRIENDS whipped out their iPads.I was about to give in.

And then, today — I think serendipitously — Sony announced that their Android-based Sony Tablet S is available for presale. If anyone was going to give Apple some heat, it’s Sony. The stylish Sony Tablet S will begin shipping at the end of September and retails for $499for a 15GB slate and $599 for a 32GB tablet. Did I mention that it’s stylish? The design is what finally puts an Android-based tablet on par with the iPad — Sony’s Tablet S has unique qualities and attention to detail that set it apart from iPad wannabees.

First, the Sony Tablet S isn’t flat — it’s more of a wedge shaped design that not only feels comfortable to hold, but offers a natural tilt when viewing in landscape mode.  Even though it’s a bit heftier than the iPad, it still weighs in pretty much the same.

Engadget has a solid review of the Sony Tablet S along with a slew of photos that show off the iconic Sony style and thoughtful design.

Gloss Find: KODAK PLAYSPORT BURTON-Edition Video Camera

02 Playsport Blue 174x300 Gloss Find: KODAK PLAYSPORT BURTON Edition Video CameraHandheld mini video cameras are must-haves in my book — they make capturing video while on the go and saving / sharing the files a snap. It all started with the Flip and now there are dozens (if not more) models to choose from. We’ve been testing out KODAK’s PLAYSPORT for the past few weeks and it’s our favorite mini-camera. Lightweight yet substantial, the PLAYSPORT looks and feels like it can take a beating. Plus, the 1080p HD video camera is waterproof (up to 10 ft.), shockproof (up to 5 ft.), and also captures 5 MP still shots. I let my 10-year old take the PLAYSPORT for a spin during a family trip to Disneyland — where it had it’s fair share of bumps and being dropped on the floor. The PLAYSPORT held up fine and took incredibly clear photos and video — even under water!

And for extreme sports enthusiasts, KODAK today launched the PLAYSPORT BURTON-Edition/Zx5 Video Camera which is made for the cold and rugged slopes. Built-in image stabilization keeps video balanced — even if the videographer isn’t and the shock protection ensures the camera will survive a 5 foot fall. The Burton-Edition package comes with a Micro HDMI Cable, a 4GB Memory Card, Remote Control, Gripping Tripod and KODAK’s Essential Grip Case.
