justin timberlake social network first look 300x185 Trailer: Justin Timberlake Film Recounts Facebook’s Dirty PastGreed, betrayal, obsession and sex: who knew that Facebook had such a sordid and drama-filled past?

Based on Ben Mezrich’s 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal, the aptly titled “The Social Network” film stars Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder (and the world’s youngest billionaire) Mark Zuckerberg and Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster and former Facebook president. Like the book, the film will follow Facebook’s unbelievable rise and details the drama between Zuckerberg and co-founder Eduardo Severin, as well as their eventual falling-out.

To prepare for the role of a “high-flying but functionally homeless cocaine fiend who plies Zuckerberg with girls and venture capitalists”, Justin logged on to to social network itself do some research, telling TV show “Extra”, “I’m starting to creep on a little bit more and see what it’s all about.”

None of the Facebook staff were involved with the David Fincher (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) film, out October 1, although Saverin was a consultant for Mezrich’s book. Zuckerberg is apparently not too thrilled about being portrayed on the big-screen, telling the D8 Conference audience earlier this month, “I just wished that nobody made a movie of me while I was still alive.”

The Facebook phenomenon has grown to over 500 million users but will any of them actually log off to go see a movie about it? (Speaking of Facebook phenomena, Facebook games may even be spawning possible movie deals of their own – plans to adapt Zynga’s hit “Mafia Wars” are rumored to be in the works.)

Check out the new teaser trailer… will you be buying tickets on opening weekend?
