Target Partners With Gilt.com, Exclusive Sale This Friday!

For years, Target has teamed up top designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier, Zac Posen and most recently, Poketo, for highly coveted limited-edition collections, but their latest partnership with Gilt Groupe marks the discount retailer’s foray into yet another territory: the online flash sale.
Starting this Friday at noon ET, the Target Designer Sale on Gilt.com will create an exclusive experience around Target’s three upcoming designer collaborations. Gilt Groupe members will enjoy early access to select Target-exclusive capsule collections featuring apparel from Tucker, a colorful women’s line from designer Gaby Basora, decoupage home goods by John Derian, and handbags from British luxury brand Mulberry, before they hit stores this fall.
According to Mashable, “The Target initiative is another alternative digital rewards program that will give Gilt members the benefit of first-look access to Target items that typically sell out once they hit shelves.”
While known for offering premium goods from designers like Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana, Gilt Groupe has recently been branching out in an effort to attract more mainstream consumers and differentiate itself from other sample sale Websites like Ruelala and Ideeli; the site recently teamed up with Starbucks to offer exclusive deals to My Starbucks Rewards customers.
Target also has some big plans in store; this Wednesday at 9PM, the retailer will kick-off a free to the public, large-scale fashion show on Little W. 12th St. (between Washington St. and 10th Ave.) in the West Village. Dancers will spin and twirl on a stage set behind models sporting Target brands like Mossimo, Merona and Converse One Star.
