New York Passes Law To Make Online Dating More Safe
New York’s newest laws now require dating websites to warn users about the potential dangers of meeting strangers, as part of the recently signed Internet Dating Safety Act.
The act also advises that those looking for love online to “never include your last name, e-mail address, home address, phone number, place of work and any other identifying information in your Internet profile or initial e-mail messages.”
Mostly just common sense, other tips also include telling someone else your whereabouts when meeting someone new and being sure to meet in a public place.
The state’s new laws also addressed the rights of victims in domestic abuse cases, and will now require landlords to notify potential tenants of past bedbug infestations.
What do you think about these newest NY laws? Do you think they’ll make a difference?
