26 Year-Old Facebook Founder More Powerful Than the President?

Does the 26 year-old founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg have a platform more powerful than the President of the United States?

Um, maybe, according to Drop.io‘s Soraya Darabi. Considering that the number of people who have Facebook accounts outnumber those who exercise their right to vote, the idea may be not be entirely crazy. In terms of reach of voice, their power is not so different, Darabi explained at a recent Fast Company magazine event. (Also not so different: Mark Zuckerberg and President Obama have both been villainized in the press. The new trailer for “The Social Network”, the film that traces Facebook’s early days, makes Zuckerberg out to be practically evil.)

Coincidentally, Fast Company also featured another Facebook founder, Chris Hughes on the cover last year with the headline: “The Kid Who Made Obama President; How Facebook Cofounder Chris Hughes Unleashed Barack’s Base- and Changed Politics and Marketing Forever”. Hughes was the online coordinator for Obama’s social networking site during the 2008 presidential campaign.
