First, Patrick Timoney was nearly suspended for bringing a 2-inch LEGO gun to school in NY. Today comes news that a 12-year old in Queens was arrested for doodling on her desk with an erasable marker.
Alexa Gonzalez must have been drawing gang signs and threats to warrant such action, right? Nope. She used her lime-green marker to write things like, “Lex was here,” and “I love my friends.”
When her Spanish class teacher caught her, she he was led out of school in handcuffs and taken to the police station across the street.
“I started crying, like, a lot,” Alexa told the Daily News. “I made two little doodles. … It could be easily erased. To put handcuffs on me is unnecessary. I just thought I’d get a detention. I thought maybe I would have to clean [the desk].”
At a time where violence and bullying are causing serious problems in our school, these types of stories make it all the more clear what’s wrong with our nation’s schools.

Duh. Like educating the ignorant fools who are running the schools. Instead of advancing as a society we are slowly self-destructing….as evidenced by this story.

We are undoubtly surrounded by idiots; while it’s not okay to deface school property, the teacher or whoever made the judgment call to arrest the girl for something that does not nearly warrant an arrest that person should be canned.
If they would just get back to beating children to vandalize, maybe they wouldn’t even CONSIDER it as often. Remember the american kids in – what was it, Taiwan or something? – that got caned for spray painting on a car? MOST Americans cheered it because punk kids get away with that stuff here in America.
We are too liberal here and we’ve gotten away from biblical teachings. Some states even allow homosexuals to marry, and that’s just going to cause more of all this stuff.
That’s ridiculous, hasn’t anyone doodled on their desk before? This punishment is insane, and somewhat random. I don’t know a single person who has not at one point doodled on a desk before
