Maria Shriver Says Mother’s Death ‘Has Brought Me to My Knees’

Maria Shriver says the death of her mother brought her to her knees.  Shriver shared her grief today at the Women’s Conference in Long Beach, California today.  The first lady lost her mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, just two months ago. Shriver said she tells people she’s holding up well, but the truth is she is not.

The real truth is that I’m not fine. The real truth is that my mother’s death has brought me to my knees. I had feared this my entire life. . . . She was my hero, my role model, my very best friend. I spoke to her every single day of my life. I tried really hard when I grew up to make her proud of me.

My heart just breaks for Maria Shriver.
