German Cafe Offers “Child-Free” Area

email

kidsrestaurant 300x199 German Cafe Offers Child Free AreaForget about non-smoking areas, a restaurant in Berlin is now offering a no-kids area for customers. The Café Niesen, located in one of the German capital’s most family-friendly neighborhoods, opened the area restricted to “Adults without Children” after regulars were complaining about the pint-sized customers.

“My regulars were not finding it peaceful,” owner Christine Wick said.

Even though few have complained about the child-free zone, in general, the concept is being frowned upon by the government, who deem the policy concerning and “not acceptable.” With a low birth rate, the government in Berlin has been doing its best to encourage its citizens to have more babies.

“We are a society that is having fewer children,” said Stefanie Winde of the Berlin state parliament. “We need to be more tolerant.”

well done! About time, people are sick of having to listen to screaming kids when they’re trying to relax. In the UK we used to go to bars, but now they’re been turned into hideous pits of screaming kids too.

More childfree areas are needed, there’s enough provided for children already.

I see nothing wrong with that! At all… In fact I’m very glad to read so!

I would LOVE it if more restaurants and cafes did this! How parents can consider this “discrimination” just goes to show how ignorant and inconsiderate they are.

They are not being “banned” from the cafe as a whole. It sounds like mommies are still welcome, and the cafe is still accommodating to the young ‘uns. The business owner just had the good sense to set aside some space for people who don’t enjoy listening to high-pitched shrieks at the next table. Who knows. . .maybe some of the people who enjoy the “no children” section actually have children of their own. . .at home, with a sitter.

It’s about time. Those of us without children — or parents who want some time out without our offspring — are tired of inconsiderate “parents” who allow their young ones to act like apes on crack in public places. It’s getting harder and harder to find restaurants, libraries, bookstores, cinemas and other places that are fit for adults.

The only place you can go and be in public to get away from screaming kids is a casino — we need more areas without kids for adults. Why the trend? Too many parents are insensitive jerks who could not care less about anyone else. I think restaurants should have a “kick out” policy – child loud or acting up and parent not doing anything, waiters swoop in, pack everything up, and out the door. Parents with little kids would have to give their credit card and sign a blank slip just to get in the door. I am sick of it. I also think there should be kid free dining hours from 7 Pm on on week days and 5 pm on on the weekend. Give us a break!

well done, I am so impressed. It’s hard to go against the grain with this, everybody is so obsessed with child-worship. This is really good news and many thanks to the cafe owner for recognising the rights of the childfree.
