The 4th of July is just around the corner and if you’re looking for the perfect, festive dessert to whip up, look no further than this scrumptious berry tart courtesy of Neilsen-Massey’s A Century of Flavor cookbook. Using both vanilla and almond extracts, this Berry Almond Tart is fresh, colorful and delish — thanks to red and blue berries, a decadent vanilla cream and buttery crust.
Look for raspberries and blueberries at the Farmer’s Market — the seasonal berries are at their sweetest during summer months. You’ll love this recipe — it’s a summertime favorite in my house and a hit at barbeques on Independence Day and throughout the year!

Assemble tart by spreading Vanilla Pastry Cream over the baked Almond Cream. Arrange the berries over the pastry cream. Brush the Sugar Glaze generously over the fruit. Chill until ready to serve.
